The Leader of the House of Commons, Andrea Leadsom, praised The Bear in Parliament.
From Facebook, Maurita Bunny Halsall Back in the Bear. This is a Beautiful Old Hotel. We just love it here. Great rooms, super food, lovely staff and very dog friendly. We booked a standard because it was the last room, but when we arrived we were upgraded to the first room we stayed in on our first visit years ago and it is stunning. We will always come back here. Thank you……..
From Facebook, Nigel Graham Consistently good food! The Bear still has that town pub feel about it. It is (very) dog friendly so along with the locals it is popular with walkers too who have their canine friends with them. We usually arrive early on a Saturday when it is easier to get both car parking and a table!! The car park isn’t the biggest and quite tight in places.
Local produce is on the menu which is good to see. The staff are all very friendly and professional. There is one table always reserved for locals which is a good move as the locals are there 365 days!
From Facebook, Timmy Wheeler Ahh- what can I say? You don’t get a better pint of Rev James than at The Bear in Crickhowell. You’d also struggle to find better bar food and atmosphere – so why bother with the snooty restaurants when you’ve got The Bear? My buddies and I have been biking & hiking in the Crickhowell/Talybont area for the last decade or longer. I’ve probably eaten at The Bear on at least 60 occasions. I’ve NEVER once been disappointed with a meal they’ve served up (and I think that goes for us all.) Hard to beat & Highly Recommended! Tim W.
From Facebook, Danielle Dudley Visited twice with my husband and 4 month old daughter. Staff are so friendly and have made us feel welcome both times. We have ordered from both the lunch and evening menu, the steak was the best we have ever had in an ideal setting. The pub has beautiful decor. Thank you for a lovely afternoon and evening.
From Facebook, Thereza Darer The food was top class the landlady or landlord and all the staff were in every way 100% definitely would go back.
From Facebook, Ross and Celeste Pinkerton Hill. We had our wedding reception in the Bear Hotel on Monday 29th February 2016. We had previously stayed at the Bear and we knew that the food would be good. Not only was the food first class but the service was outstanding. We didn’t feel like we were customers or clients, more like old friends. In particular William the main waiter for our function could not do enough for us. We shall be forever grateful to the Bear for making our celebration so special. We cannot imagine any place in the world where we would have preferred to be. If you are reading this and considering staying at the Bear, don’t hesitate for one moment.

From Facebook, Marilyn Jervis, Christmas 2015 Had turkey dinner and it was great. The Bear looked great, the staff were great and the atmosphere was great. The Bear always gets it right. Gave us a real taste of Happy Christmas spirit. Thanks!
From Facebook, Ralph Morgan Food and service excellent, staff always polite and accommodating, traditionally decorated for Christmas, log fire lit and crackling and a few whiffs of the burning smoke all adds to the ambience, prices are always reasonable.
From Facebook, Fiona Mary Beavan This is one of my favourite places as for the last 14 years we have visited regularly with my dog Josie who is now 15 and she introduced my two additions to my family (4 legged girls) Lucy and Annie to the wonderful service of a bowl of chicken (free to all doggie visitors) when we call in for a meal or even just a coffee after a long walk by the river. the staff, the location, the atmosphere, the food, the service, is just superb!

Jan McCann “We had a fabulous lunch here yesterday. The staff were all incredibly kind and polite. We asked if we could bring the dog in (said dog is blind and deaf), and were immediately made very welcome. We sat in the most beautiful garden at the back, the food was excellent, and the dog was brought water and a bowl of chicken! The sun shone! Perfect! We will be back!”
Darren “Farmer” Thomas “Great food, great ale, great atmosphere and great service. Really couldn’t ask for more! Also nice to see how welcomed the dogs were on the table next to us! Would highly recommend dog walkers or holiday makers with dogs to head here!”
