The Bear Hotel was one of four overnight stops on the arduous journey by horse-drawn coach from London to West Wales en route to Ireland.
Coach passengers would arrive, exhausted and cold, in need of food, warmth and liquor. The Bear provided for them then just as it looks after visitors today.
You can still see evidence of The Bear’s historic past in its cobbled courtyard, archway to the old stables, framed coach timetables and bell-pulls to call for service.
And the Hindmarsh family – who have run The Bear for the last 40 years – extend the same warmth of welcome now as offered in times gone by.GO TO: - About - Atmosphere - Friends of the bear
